Hahns Macaw Dietary Requirements
At Adelaide Bird Company, we feed our Hahns Macaw parrots a regular diet of 40% tiny parrot seed, high-quality crumbles, and pellets; 50% of fruits and vegetables such as bananas, grapes, carrots, and bok choy; and 10% nuts and grains such as almonds. All provide necessary vitamins and nutrients and are sold in our store.
Fresh, clean water is also a must. Hahns Macaws living indoors require Vitamin D3 and Calcium Supplement. And we are using Avian Sunglo.

Hahn’s Macaw Cage and Accessories
A birdcage is needed for your Hahn’s Macaw. There should be plenty of space for your bird to stretch its wings and move around. Minimum size of 90x140cm is recommended. More importantly, a playground or area where your parrot can be free.
This kind of bird needs to be out of its cage so they’ll stay super friendly.

Breeding Hahn’s Macaws
Hahn’s Macaws reach sexual maturity around 2-3 years of age. They breed during the warmer months of Summer and breed once a year. The female lays from 2 eggs up to 5, and the eggs usually take up to 4 weeks to hatch. Those chicks leave the nest at 11-12 weeks and are ready for new homes 2-3 weeks after leaving the nest.
A parrot-sized nest box approximately 30×70 cm lined with parrot nesting material available from ABC is suitable for breeding.

Hahn’s Macaw
The Hahn’s Macaw is native to South America, specifically Brazil & Venezuela, among other smaller countries. They are highly intelligent, vibrant birds who are very curious and gentle. These birds are easy to train and sometimes train themselves.
Aside from that, Hahn’s Macaws are excellent talkers and respond best to food rewards. They grow to 35 cm and can live for more than 30 years.
Hahn’s Macaw males and females are indistinguishable from each other, and in some cases, the males are slightly larger than the females. To know the sex of your Hahn’s Macaw with total certainty, you should get a DNA test.
