Lovebird Adelaide

If you were in the market for a Lovebird in Adelaide, you have come to the right place. We have many breeding pairs at our breeding facility in Elizabeth South. So please give us a call and make time to view our recently fledged babies.

Lovebird Adelaide Experts.

The best time to get a Baby Lovebird is once they have left the nest between 4-7 days. It means they are still young enough to train but old enough to look after themselves.

There are so many colours and varieties, so prices vary between $50 – $100. We recommend starting with just one Lovebird so you can spend a lot of time and get it tame, then you can add another a week or two later.

Check out the video below for an example of a recently fledged Lovebird.

Breeding Lovebirds

If you were interested in breeding lovebirds as a hobby, we could offer a 6 to 12-month-old bonded pair ready to breed for around $80-100 per pair. We also have genuine breeding pairs with eggs or babies for approximately $150 pair upwards, depending on the mutation.

Check out the videos below of some breeding pairs of lovebirds.

pair of Lovebirds can be easy to breed given all the correct essentials. They require a nest box, a regular supply of green palm leaves, and plenty of fresh air, and of course, you need to have a male and female.

Sexing a lovebird can be difficult if you are not experienced. You sex a lovebird by using the pelvic method. If the pelvic bones are wider apart, the bird will generally be a female, and if the bones are close together, then the chances are it’s a male.

It can also be problematic if the birds are young as some young females haven’t matured yet, and the bones are close together. It is a great reason why you should purchase your lovebirds from VBC. We have been successfully breeding lovebirds for many years to help you go in the right direction.

Lovebirds Dietary Requirements

Lovebird is relatively easy to look after if kept in optimum conditions and fed the correct diet. The three most critical dietary requirements are an excellent quality mixture of seed comprising mainly budgie mix, a few hulled oats, and some grey stripe sunflower.

Many supermarket seeds are inadequate. High protein Crumbles are essential as the parents feed these to their youngsters, helping them grow up big and strong and have a supply of fresh water. Limit the fruit and vegetables.
